The Impact of a Godly Conversation Read Malachi 3:16-18 Malachi 3:16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name. God gives attention and hears the conversations of those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name, and of those who are His own beloved children. As we get together, fellowship and speak to one another, this verse tells us that God not only hears us, but makes note of us in His book of remembrance, taking note of all who revere who He is. God cares about our conversations and so should we! Have you ever had a conversation with a Christian and walked away thinking, "Wow, I was really blessed by what that person had to say to me!" Or maybe, you have felt, as I have sometimes, that God used a sister or brother in Christ to speak to me, encourage me, or even to correct me in some area of my life. What a contrast to the impact of much of the ungodly chatter of the world today. In Malachi's day as in our own, there was widespread complaining against God, cynicism and unbelief which characterized much of the conversation of the times. But God listens to the conversations of His people. He desires for us as believers to get together, to speak often with each other and encourage and build up one another in our faith and Christian service. That is fellowship. Believers are mutually encouraged and strengthened in fellowship. As we share of God's faithfulness, goodness and love, our godly conversations have an impact in the lives of those we fellowship with. And our speech shows the fruit of a changed life - for "..it is out of the heart that the mouth speaks." 1Cor 1:5 For in him you have been enriched in every way--in all your speaking and in all your knowledge-- 1Ti 4:12 Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe. God also wants us to be wise in our conversations with those who are outside the faith. What a blessing to use our conversations to boldly share what Christ has done for us, or is doing in our life with all who will hear. Col 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. 2Co 3:12 Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech Are we allowing God's Spirit to mold our conversations. Let's pray for God to help us in this area, that our conversations will be godly and pleasing to Him. Praying to have conversations worth remembering and writing down for eternity. Pr 22:11 He who loves purity of heart And whose speech is gracious, the king is his friend. Lets be women who talk to God effectively about people, and talk to people effectively about God. |
